Old Pearland and new Pearland
Pearland incorporated in November 1959 and stayed small for decades. In the 1990s, builders began buying large tracts and covering former rice fields with houses, and the population grew about 142 percent between 2000 and 2010. The city now reaches into Brazoria, Harris and Fort Bend counties. West Pearland is mostly newer suburban development, including Shadow Creek Ranch, Southern Trails and Lakes of Highland Glen. The east side, around the old town center at Main Street and Broadway, has more older houses.
The two halves call for different approaches. Older single-story east-side homes usually mean attic cable runs and retrofit speaker cut-ins. Newer two-story houses often have an upstairs game room or media room the builder prewired, with the equipment closet downstairs and long HDMI runs between them.
Upgrading the screen in a game room or media room
A common Pearland project is replacing the TV or projector in an existing room. A new display can expose weak points: an in-wall HDMI cable that can’t carry 4K HDR, a receiver without eARC, an HDMI extender older than the new signal format, or a control driver that doesn’t match the new model. Before buying, note the receiver model, how each source reaches the screen and roughly how long the wall run is. Obsidian AV checks that whole path so the new screen works with the remote the family already uses.

Control4 and Savant takeovers in Pearland
Many Pearland systems went in during construction or soon after move-in, and that installer is not always still around. On Control4, the first steps are confirming the controller model and OS version, getting the dealer account transferred and reviewing the Composer Pro project so rooms, sources and remotes are mapped correctly. Zigbee keypads and dimmers that keep dropping off are checked for mesh coverage before anything is replaced.

Patios, pools and outdoor TVs
Newer Pearland lots often include a covered patio, and many have a pool. Outdoor TVs should be rated for outdoor use or sit under a deep cover, speakers need weather-rated hardware, and patio audio normally runs as its own zone of the whole-home audio system. If the patio went quiet after a storm or a pressure-wash, mention it: water in a junction box is a different repair from a failed amplifier channel.

AV service questions for Pearland
Why does the TV’s own app have sound when the external player does not?
The two often take different signal paths through the receiver or soundbar. Note both results, the source and receiver models and the inputs selected. That lets the failing path be traced without assuming the speakers or the control system have failed.
Will a new 4K TV work with the wiring already in my wall?
Sometimes. Older in-wall HDMI cables and extenders may not carry 4K HDR reliably over long runs. The existing cable and any extender are tested before the TV goes up, and replacement is only suggested if they fail.
Our builder installed Control4. Can someone else take it over?
Usually. The controller is identified, the dealer account is transferred to the new provider, and the existing Composer Pro project is reviewed. Whether it can be kept as-is depends on its condition.

Yes. Silverlake and Country Place are unincorporated areas next to Pearland, and Shadow Creek Ranch is on the west side of Highway 288. All are in the service area.
