Passion is not a marketing word here.
I love audio video. Not the category—the experience.
I love two-channel music and the way a good system can make a familiar recording sound new again. I love the moment after a Dolby Atmos demo when a client looks around the room because they cannot believe what they just heard. I love programming because good programming is what turns complicated engineering into something a family can use without thinking about it.
I care about distributed audio because I know most of it will not be used for critical listening. It will be the soundtrack to dinner, a birthday, a pool day, or friends standing around the kitchen. That makes it more important, not less.
I believe high-end equipment matters when it is chosen for the right reason. Cable, speaker placement, calibration, power, acoustics and the network all matter because the client experiences the result of every one of those choices—even if they never know the technical explanation.
Clients are not numbers. I want to leave every system sounding and working the way I would want it in my own house. That standard is what Obsidian is built around.
